Dr. Arlene Grant, President

SCN is making history as a 21st Century educational community. I am incredibly enthusiastic about spearheading this pursuit of excellence as the chief executive officer. Our innovation is inspirational and influential in positioning students for the future of the nursing profession. Please know student diversity is treasured and considered an asset to foster nursing principles, values, and trends. We welcome transfers and graduates of high school, other colleges, foreign educated, or non-nurse programs. Because of my zeal, I am visible in propelling this journey of goal achievement & career success.

Raymond A Thompson, Campus Director

Mr. Thompson brings exceptional leadership and management experiences to assure the quality of SCN’s day-to-day operations. His diverse background in engineering is invaluable to organizing, directing, and supervising campus operations, schedules, communications & reporting procedures. His expertise is pertinent to fulfilling internal & external services and relationships. Mr. Thompson is the security expert commanding responsibilities of campus safety, property & personal protection, equipment & technology use, and interdepartmental collaboration. Whether online or onsite, Mr. Thompson strives to continuously boost comfort and satisfaction of the learning, environmental, and working conditions.

Dr. Martin, Provost

Dr. Martin serves as Provost with a passion to achieve institutional excellence. With over forty years of professional & academic experience, she brings proven nursing, business, and administrative models to support the President in leading SCN as a College of national prominence. Her leadership is purposeful to enrich scholastic opportunities, advance operational outcomes, and enhance nursing and community relationships for the continuing success of SCN faculty, students & staff. Dr. Martin is a mentor to support pursuits for a nursing career.

Grace Grant Brown, CFO

The financial strength of SCN is under the direction of the Ms. Brown, CFO. With a MBA and accounting degrees, her leadership drives the institution for longevity, expansion, & continuous improvement. Ms. Brown is a CPA and credited for over 30 years of professional, administrative, and executive experience in business operations and financial management.

Maxine James-Francis, Dean of Nursing Programs

Dr. Francis is a scholar, administrator, practitioner, & advisor. Her leadership and mentorship serve to direct, implement and evaluate the curriculum. As a motivator and facilitator, she is on-demand, promoting innovation in faculty and classroom practices. Students easily gravitate to her because of her versatility and high-level problem solving. Her commitment is to give full attention to the needs of every student for success. Dr. Francis is unwavering in aligning the curriculum with contemporary trends in nursing education and cultivating excellence in nursing education. Her aspiration is for SCN to achieve student retention and licensure exam passing rate at 100%, lifelong learners, and top satisfaction rates from graduates & employers of alumni.

Vivian Torres, LMS Director

Nursing is an awarding profession offering a range of career opportunities. Ms. Torres holds an ASN degree and exemplifies technology as a nursing specialty. She is recognized as a learning platform expert in nursing education. With over seven (7) years in managing learning platforms, Ms. Torres integrates nursing knowledge and technological know-how to inspire and support students in the online classroom. The CANVAS platform is the hub to capture discovery, assessments, and applications of student competencies. Ms. Torres manages CANVAS to share, justify and channel learning for the portfolio of a student’s experience.

Donita Potts, Lead Admission Specialist

Students rave over Ms. Potts for her exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication talents. She is a motivator and problem solver for individuals to thrive as a member of the SCN community. Ms. Potts is remarkedly experienced in recruitment and application processes. Students rely on her to support a timely transition into nursing programs. Ms. Potts coordinates, manages & resolves admission issues & requirements. Likewise, she is a student advocate. Ms. Potts leads her team with great positivity to care for & respect every person.

Heather Bent, Library & Research Specialist

Ms. Bent is the onsite librarian providing essential services to enhance inquiry and search skills. Library and research activities are entrenched in the curriculum to develop concrete outcomes of quality and safety of the healthcare systems. For this reason, assistance from Ms. Bent is on-demand to complete the scope of evidence-based assignments and projects across the life span. Faculty and students gain proficiency in library and research functions. Ms. Bent is a vital liaison to access LIRN, the online library portal, for the wide-ranging scholarly collections, references & study solutions.

Krystal Grant, Student Success Director

Student success is paramount in fulfilling SCN’s mission and values. Ms. Grant is at the forefront in guiding, encouraging, and mentoring students to achieve necessary goals. She is a facilitator, advocate, and collaborator, remarkably to advise students in remediation or career planning. Ms. Grant is approachable with great insight as an experienced baccalaureate-prepared nurse in clinical practice. Students appreciate her perseverance, compassion, and attention to detail. Ms. Grant’s warm demeanor fosters positive relationships and solves problems to peak retention & success.
